The Detroit Digital Justice Coalition is comprised of people and organizations in Detroit who believe that communication is a fundamental human right. Since the founding of the Detroit Digital Coalition in 2009, we’ve led a participatory publication design process and produced four zines (self-published magazines) to date to document the coalition’s work. Each zine supplies local, national and international communities with accessible technological resources. These fun and engaging printed tools bridge the communication gaps between those who are both online and offline. Some of the zine themes include how to build-your-own technology, the intrinsic relationship between environmental and digital justice, replicating the DDJC’s DiscoTech workshop and narratives around community wireless networks. Zine copies can be purchased through the Allied Media Project’s store.
