Tenants Rights Report Design

WITH WE THE PEOPLE MICHIGAN

Graphic design for report and tool kit to inform renters.

We the People Michigan works to build multi-racial, working-class alliances statewide to advance a state that is safe and sustainable, where all people have dignity, our democracy is protected, and we acknowledge our history and work to heal past harms. The organization believes that housing is a human right and wrote “Michigan Tenants: Know Your Rights,” a guide for renters and tenants in navigating their rights when renting a home or unit. The guide includes information about rental leases and policies, eviction rules and complaints, landlord responsibilities and expectations, tenant responsibilities, and financial and legal assistance in Michigan. The Work Department designed a PDF of the report as well as a web page with downloadable assets.

We began our work with We the People Michigan by sharing inspirational examples, becoming familiar with their brand, and reviewing a draft of the report. We made recommendations to ensure the content was easy to understand and reordered some information to allow select sections to stand alone on a single page.

We designed simple graphics and checklists to convey the helpful content in an engaging and accessible manner for community members and service providers alike.
